Thoughts on Anthrocon [10 Jul 2009|10:52am]

Still up here in the wilderness of the Pine Barrens (at least until Monday night), and thought I'd finally say a few words on my first con experience. First of all, I'm glad we mostly spent time hanging out with folks instead of running around trying to do everything, because it could get overwhelming enough just being around all those people. On the flipside, I have learned that, as a whole, furries will be REALLY NICE to you just for being "one of them". Good information for future cons.

Now, as far as the stuff I DID do, learning to play Race for the Galaxy from [info]rax was fun, even if my brain wasn't quite functioning right. Rachel, you're a sweetie, I hope to see you and your Cassandra again sometime in the near future. Also, the Dealer's Room and Art Show were COMPLETELY awesome, and I felt kinda cool for being able to explain [info]ursulav's phalloi to someone. MUAHAHA INTERNET STALKER POWERS - *cough* ahem, where was I? Oh yes, shiny things. Like my bitchin' Fuse necklace with the LED embedded in a quartz crystal. SO PRETTY. And of course I had to buy something from Ursula, especially since she was nice enough to sign Nurk and Dragonbreath, so while her boyfriend [info]alchemist was manning the booth, I got myself some Predatory Peppermint Tea. Still need to try that out. Also, Kevin is totally sweet. I can see why Ursula digs him so much.

I, of course, had my beloved [info]mmsword, who introduced me to lots of cool folks that I was thrilled to meet and hang out with. So to [info]circuit_four, [info]indicoyote, [info]tyrc, [info]glashund, [info]pathia, and anyone I've forgotten or don't know the LJ-name of, it was great being introduced to you! Was also good catching up with my buds [info]alfador_fox and [info]corgisrluv, however briefly, and getting hugs. Once again [info]rax, was good to meet you and your fiancee, I will try to make it up to Boston eventually.

Overall, a very, very positive experience for me, even if I'm not nearly used to so much walking. Giant convention space is giant, and I've probably gained some leg muscle from the trip. But things were generally awesome and I hope to go again next year, and hopefully meet more awesome people. Yay first con!

I promise not to make a habit out of posting video this, but it is relevant to our interests. [10 Jul 2009|09:53am]

Anthrocon ahoy! [01 Jul 2009|10:18am]

So in about 9 hours or so I will be starting the interminable trek up to Pittsburgh for Anthrocon with the beloved [info]mmsword. Hotel should have wi-fi, but of course I don't know if/how often I'll actually be online. Try not to blow up the internet or kill any more celebrities while I'm gone, 'kay? And for those of you I'll be meeting there: I look forward to meeting you, but you should be warned, I am crazy. It's a friendly sort of crazy most of the time (sometimes Overly Friendly), but batshit insane nonetheless. I'm sure most of you are used to this sort of thing, you're friends with above-mentioned beloved after all. ^_~
